Head of School
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Hadassah Hall website. I hope you find it informative and helpful – as well as giving you a glimpse of the quality program we offer our young learners. We provide a dynamic and exciting program where children are encouraged and guided to reach their full potential. Parental support and involvement are critical to the success of Hadassah Hall and this website is one way to strengthen that bond.
At our school, we aim to provide a safe, stimulating and fun environment in which the children under our care will fulfill their learning potential by participating in activities covering all six areas of the Montessori Curriculum and seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for children under 10.
The Montessori curriculum covers :
Practical Life
Children do simple exercises like polishing, transferring, pouring, threading etc. Through these exercises, the children develop concentration, self-motivation and confidence, which then transfers into later academic work.
Sensorial
Through sensorial activities, the children learn about comparing, sequencing, sound, smell, weight and texture. All these activities prepare the child for more advanced maths and it allows them to develop perception using their senses.
Mathematics
All the mathematical materials used are concrete, allowing the children to absorb the basics of mathematics. They learn how to share, combine, count, and compare using the materials provided.
Language and Literacy
The Montessori classroom provides the children with the opportunity to develop their vocabulary and self-expression. The children are introduced to phonetic sounds of the alphabet at first, which will easily lead the child to start reading. There is also a book corner to encourage a positive attitude to reading. It provides the children with a whole range of classic and modern books.
Creativity
The children are encouraged to participate in a variety of arts and crafts exercises, role-play, music and dance.
Cultural
Children will be taught about all cultures using books and role play. We will also teach them history, geography, biology, science and cookery which will give them the understanding and appreciation of all living things.
At Hadassah Hall, we are committed to support the holistic development of each child to help them get ready for school and set them up for a successful future.
We pride ourselves that all our staff receive on-going training in the delivery of the curriculum, and are committed to the principals of learning through play and interaction with peers and adults.
“Play underpins all development and learning for young children. Most children play spontaneously…” and it is through play that they develop spiritually, intellectually, creatively, physically, socially and emotionally. At Hadassah Hall Creche and Nursery, our curriculum reflects this need to play and to have practical experience of skills, in order to form a solid foundation on which to build. Our staff is trained in providing both child-initiated and adult-led activities and we recognise that children need to have a wide range of play experiences in order to solve problems, communicate with others and make sense of their world. We have endeavoured to provide all students with a fun, engaging and holistic learning environment where they feel safe, respected and loved. We understand that children grow and develop at their own pace. Classroom instruction is differentiated to allow all children to be challenged while feeling successful in all aspects of the program – regardless of their stage of development. We view a child’s individual developmental level as moving along a continuum and we recognize that movement is not always smooth or predictable. Simply put, the needs and abilities of each child is the primary factor that guides the program.
We also recognise that we are working in partnership with you, the parents, and consider this partnership paramount to your child’s development and learning. We believe that, in working together as partners, we can provide a firm foundation on which to build future academic, social and emotional success for your child.
A website never tells you everything about a school and as parents you need to select carefully before enrolling your child. You are welcome to visit our school as we will not only be glad to show you around but also to tell you all you need to know to help you determine what your child may need at this time. Our mission is to develop and nurture your child to enable them to become life-long learners who exceed your expectations and their own.
Should you be looking for a well-established and nurturing Early Childhood program, please feel free to stop by or make an appointment for a tour with our Head of School. We are very proud of Hadassah Hall Creche, Nursery and Elementary School, and would be happy to show you what we have to offer.
Best regards
