Open House 22

Today!!!!

What a great turn out at the Open House!  It was so nice to meet several new families and of course see many of the returning parents!
We enjoyed seeing you and having the opportunity to share the learning that goes on in our classrooms. We hope that it was informative, as well as fun (as all learning should be!) for you!
Thank you all for attending our Open House.
Welcome to Hadassah Hall 2022/23 School Year.
God’s presence is HERE.

Prayer for Our Children

Good morning Dear Parents,
The countdown to resumption has begun…
Back to school has looked different the last few years. With so much uncertainty in our world, it is more important now than ever before to cover our family in prayer. While yes there is sickness, evil, violence, and bullying out there, we serve a BIG God, who spoke the universe into existence with a word, let’s not forget that….

Back to school normally leaves me with mixed feelings, but in the last few years, it has felt so much bigger. New nerves, new things to consider. Anyone else?

As a mother I’ve quickly learned I can’t control everything about my children’s lives, but one thing I know to be true is prayer changes things.

We can’t control the world right now, but we can pray. And we can go to God’s throne of grace and intercede for our children.

Over the next few days, we will be sharing short prayer points with you (1 a day until resumption). You can pray with them directly or use them as a guide to pray for your child(ren). Pray how the Holy Spirit leads you! Also, feel free to add in your children’s names or their teacher’s names specifically.
It is going to be an immensely successful year for us all, in Jesus name.

Summer Twist ’22

Better here than anywhere else…

WEEK 1

A New Game:

The children learned how to play the Hopscotch game. Hopscotch is a game children have played for years and years. Ever wondered why it’s remained so popular? For one thing it ticks off all the necessary boxes for child-driven PLAY. Plus it’s is a game that is as challenging as it is fun, a good example of the POWER of PLAY!

Hopping on one foot, a homo-lateral movement, requires significant demands physically and mentally.

To play hopscotch, children need to be able to move one side of their body while keeping the other side still; balance on one foot; remain balanced while bending over and coming back up; and to determine their correct hopping pathway. In other words: To problem-solve.

Summer Twist Car Wash

When you mix children with water, you usually end up with a fun time.  Add to that some soap, sponges, toy cars, and a dirty minivan, and you have tons of water fun for children!

They spent close to an hour scrubbing the car, rinsing it off, scrubbing it again, and rinsing it back off.

Needless to say, there were many squeals and giggles to be heard and we had hours of fun.

For the older children, teaching them how to wash a car is a valuable skill which they will be able to carry with them as they grow up.

It also teaches them the importance of properly maintaining a vehicle if you wash your car with them frequently, and this creates a good habit early. Often, children love the sense of responsibility from the activity, but it also acts as a great bonding activity for you and your children of all ages.

This turned out to be an amazing activity for the kids. Even better, it was incredibly simple to set up and clean up!

Cooking Time

Cooking and Cleaning are basic life skills, ‘not a Gender Role’!!

WEEK 2

Financial Literacy

Children as young as 5 can understand the idea of saving!
Teaching your children to save their money and not spend it right away can help them learn lifelong skills in how to manage money.

By teaching savings lessons at every stage of a child’s life, it can instill good financial habits that can last a lifetime. That’s our goal.

Arts and Craft

Art allows children to develop their creativity, which is important throughout their lives. By doing something creative, you allow for self-expression and this lets kids express themselves. It also fosters mental growth by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, new ways of thinking and problem solving.

Games

Research has shown that games are essential for healthy development in early childhood and beyond. Play lets children practise what they know, and also what they don’t. It allows them to experiment through trial and error, find solutions to problems, work out the best strategies, and build new confidence and skills.

Cooking: Plantain Frittata

In search of a lighter and healthy breakfast idea? Plantain frittata is the ultimate plantain and egg breakfast recipe you should try.
It is different, easy to prepare and of course very delicious.
Don’t just fry your plantain and eggs separately, try this recipe!

WEEK 3

Art and Craft

Painting / DIY Slippers Craft:
Have you ever wondered why art and crafts are so important for child development? And for children age 3 – 8 experts say it is the most important way to help them grow and develop. That’s we do so much of it at Hadassah Hall.
Apart from Motor skills development, art and craft activities give children a sense of achievement and allow them to take pride in their work which builds confidence. Making art is a great, safe way to discover that it’s okay to make mistakes and that getting things ‘wrong’ can lead you to a whole new idea. Kids get to try new things and also develop their “self-regulation skills” (e.g. when waiting for paint or glue to dry). This helps them develop patience, which all children need help with!

Happy Crafting!

Cooking Class: Yoghurt Parfait

Yoghurt Parfait

A fun way to serve up yoghurt, and all of the calcium, protein, and probiotics that it includes…using a simple recipe that many children will be happy to help assemble on their own!

Painting

Sunset by the Riverside
Painting helps children acquire skills on how to focus on trivial details, painting on a canvas or a piece of paper requires varied painting skills, and can be a great podium for children to progress and discover their creativity. They learn about various color mixtures and how they go together. It is also fun and exciting.

Well done, kids!

WEEK 4

Stem Activities

STEM-based education teaches children more than science and mathematics concepts. The focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications helps develop a variety of skill sets, including creativity and 21st-century skills.

Exposing kids to simple STEM activities at an early age today sets a foundation for higher learning tomorrow.

Cooking Club: Cupcakes

An easy, step-by-step recipe for children to make their own cupcakes from scratch. We really enjoyed sharing fun and engaging resources to help the children learn in the kitchen—and make something delicious along the way.

Each child had a turn at pouring in and mixing the ingredients. Whilst adding the ingredients, the educators asked what they were adding, the children responded with ‘the sugar’ and ‘two eggs’.

The children sat patiently and waited for their turn to add an ingredient or mix the batter through. They also encouraged their peers to do the same.

The educators encouraged the children to verbalize the ingredients used, as well as their actions throughout this experience, and encouraged the children to participate in all of the micro skills, for example pouring and mixing, to promote a positive sense of self.

Transition / End of Term Party

There was a slight chill in the air but the weather was just the right for celebrations. HH staff and children celebrated the session amidst fun and frolic.

Abba Father, we are thankful for the end of 2021/22 Session. It has been A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

Speech Delay in Toddlers

Today, we will be going over speech and language development for babies and toddlers. We will be talking about what to expect your baby to be saying depending on how old they are and what to do if they’re not being as vocal or responsive to sounds.
Knowing what’s normal and what’s not in speech and language development can help you figure out if you should be concerned or if your child is right on schedule.
Our Head of School will also share the single most important thing a parent can to do help children improve language skills.

We were outside to learn about the weather. Innovative weather activities for kids can be helpful to teach them about temperature, seasons, clouds, and many other concepts.  🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Today in Hadassah Hall:
1: We enjoyed playing in the rain
2. We hung out with Eskimo friends while it snowed
